Hello. You could easily get your Informix status from the output of "onstat -" command. Eg: in linux/unix boxes, you could check using: onstat - |awk '{print $8}' That should return "On-Line", in other case your system should not ready for users sessions/applications. http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/informix/v121/topic/com.ibm.adref.doc/ids_adr_0489.htm?resultof=%22%73%65%72%76%65%72%22%20%22%73%74%61%74%75%73%22%20%22%73%74%61%74%75%22%20 Pay attention to single-user mode, while the engine is running, but not available for non-administrative users. Hope it helps. Regards. It seems you are hitting some OS limits. Check your machine notes for OS patch levels, OS prereqs (kernel parameters), if you are fine according to recommendations, ask us for any additional help. Careful with that "-q". Solaris, for one, does not support it in the = standard grep, you have to use the xpg4 version of it. j. What is strange is this has now happened 3 times in the past couple of months ... Always on a Saturday night, always a couple of hours after a reboot. Nothing has changed with the databases and from what I'm told no new jobs are executing and the data volumes are the same. One thing I still have to check out is that I believe they may have moved a couple of the servers from Fiber Channel adapters to virtual IO cards .... which I fought and lost ... might something like that cause this? Peter Look in the the syscdr_ddr table, ddrblock is triggered if you are heading for a log wrap If the engine is approaching ddrblock then you should also see spooler threads that will spool transactions to disk, this should allow the replay position to advance. If ER reaches the point that all the dd_logpage2block are exhausted then you will be get a DDRBLOCK. You minimize the likelihood of a DDRBLOCK by setting the LTX watermarks to say 35/45 (LTXHWM ~25/35% of LTXEHWM) You can also look at CDR_MAX_DYNAMIC_LOGS - 0 is off, -1 is unlimited, positive integer is the max that can added. With ER you really can't have too many logs :)' Cheers Paul -----Original Message----- From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:ids-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Peter_Logan@spartanstores.com Sent: Monday, May 06, 2013 7:10 AM To: ids@iiug.org Subject: Re: CDR Issue [30206] What is strange is this has now happened 3 times in the past couple of months ... Always on a Saturday night, always a couple of hours after a reboot. Nothing has changed with the databases and from what I'm told no new jobs are executing and the data volumes are the same. One thing I still have to check out is that I believe they may have moved a couple of the servers from Fiber Channel adapters to virtual IO cards ..... which I fought and lost ... might something like that cause this? Re: Migration from AIX to Linux

We use a mixture of AIX and Linux. Most systems are running RHEL on IBM hardware. It works beautifully - had no issues. AIX hardware tends to be big-endian whereas Linux hardware tends to be little-endian. This has meant extra steps for us when we convert from one to the other.
